Album Description
the record is the debut full-length studio album by American indie rock supergroup boygenius, consisting of Julien Baker, Phoebe Bridgers, and Lucy Dacus. Released in 2023 through Interscope Records, the album blends indie rock, folk, and alternative influences with intimate songwriting, layered harmonies, and emotionally expressive instrumentation.
Following their self-titled 2018 EP, the record expands the trio's collaborative sound, exploring themes of friendship, love, heartbreak, identity, vulnerability, and personal growth. Combining delicate acoustic arrangements with powerful electric guitars and dynamic vocal performances, the album highlights each member's individual songwriting style while creating a cohesive musical experience.
Featuring standout tracks such as “$20,” “Emily I'm Sorry,” “True Blue,” “Cool About It,” and “Not Strong Enough,” the album moves between quiet, reflective moments and energetic rock arrangements. Its thoughtful lyricism, rich harmonies, and atmospheric production capture the emotional depth and creative chemistry of the trio.
